Girly pink baby bedding

When I was a little girl, I hated wearing what my parents or grandparents wanted me to wear. It was mainly because I hated all those cute pink dresses, shoes and sweaters. I don"t know if it"s pure aversion to the colour. Perhaps it has always been connected with my awareness of some cultural connotations. Pink is sweet and cute. Pink is for girls, who are supposed to be sweet, cute, polite, optimistic, cheerful and happy. Recent trends in fashion might have changed it a bit, but if you look around, you will see that little girls are still showered with presents such as nursery bedding, blankets, shoes, clothes and toys. There are some expressions in the English language that prove that pink is the colour of good luck, health, happiness and femininity. For example, what about the old-fashioned phrase ‘in the pink" which means ‘in good health"? Or the expression ‘tackled pink", ‘to be happy or delighted"? There is also the phrase ‘pink collar", which was probably created from phrases like ‘blue collar" of ‘white collar". ‘Pink collar" is of course a woman working in a feminine job. There are, after all, professions almost entirely associated by women. I guess nursery bedding, clothes, toys and shoes will still be considered suitable for girls, but parents are going to be a bit more flexible in the future.
